What can I expect to talk about during our sessions?
After we’ve chatted during the introductory call and determined that it feels like a good fit, we’ll start with an initial nutrition assessment to get to know each other better. I’ll ask you to tell me more about what brought you to nutrition therapy at this time. I’ll also ask questions about your medical history, mental health history, relationship with food, disordered eating patterns, body image, exercise patterns & relationship with exercise, and what you are hoping to work on together. We’ll chat about your short term and long term goals. You will also have the chance to ask me any questions or share anything else that you feel is important for our continued work together.
Follow up sessions are a time for us to review both short term & long term goals and discuss ways to help you continue on your path towards a better relationship with food, body & exercise. We will often start by checking in on successes & challenges from the week and then discussing any topics that you feel would be helpful in supporting you with meeting your goals. These topics are often related to having consistent & nourishing meals and snacks, honoring hunger & fullness cues, challenging diet culture & individual food beliefs, implementing intuitive eating principles, cultivating self-compassion, and body image. All sessions are client-led and collaborative to make sure you are getting the support you are seeking from nutrition therapy.
I am in network with Anthem Blue Cross Blue Shield, Aetna, Cigna & United. If I am not in network with your insurance carrier, I am often able to provide superbills for my clients to submit for potential out-of-network reimbursement. I recommend calling your insurance carrier to learn more about your coverage for medical nutrition therapy.
